A quick photo from a great game of A Billion Suns, where my Pynx corporation slugged it out with chum Pierre's evil empire.
This was the most hotly contested system out of three : on this one we had a facility with a corrupt AI (which I destroyed with my Corvette), an asteroid to blast and mine (which I managed to do at the last minute, thanks to a particularly cunning jump-hop with my freighters from another system parsecs away), and three escape pods to escort to safety, which all fell to Pierre.
OK, so Pierre gets the humanitarian advertising boost, but this is a game about immediate gains and so I won...well sort of, my corpo came out on the level, so I have been placed under performance review by the Board. My cunning and room-winning charm will no doubt win over their hearts of ice.
A fantastic game, the mechanisms are highly original and it is a game that really gets you thinking. What do I deploy to achieve the objectives without ruining myself ? Where do I deploy them to avoid all those pesky passive fire arcs ? What is my opponent going to do ? Do I really need to put all my resources into winning the initiative so that I can find out ? Or should I keep them to boost shields and save my corvette from destruction from those hordes of fighters ?
This is our third or fourth play, so we are much more comfortable with the rules. What I now need to do, is make up some stat cards for my fleet !
