Mina

In our Jungle Deep (Rangers of the Shadow Deep) world, the idea is that characters' personality traits and career stem from their animal race.  With cows being herd animals, whose concern for other members of their herd, and for their young, is particularly noteworthy, it seemed right to make Mina a teacher in her previous life.

 

That of course got me thinking about "Saving Private Ryan", where the lead character, played by Tom Hanks, is revealed to be an ex-teacher, who has turned out to be a tough, yet still humane, Ranger captain, hardly a job for the weak at heart.

I tried to tell Mina's story through her base.  She has just severed the head of some foul creature, and has just as quickly rolled the head behind her.  Rather than striking a glorified pose on the corpse of her enemy, she is just quickly and methodically moving onto the next one.

 

This is the Minotaur Barbarian figure from Oathsworn's "Sensible Shoes" range, great fun to paint with lots of detail to work on.
